The Movement Art International Dance Festival
The Movement Art International Dance Festival brings together international contemporary dance artists whose works explore memory, identity, resistance, and human connection. Rooted in the cross-border dialogue between Luxembourg and Trier, the festival creates space for exchange in a world increasingly shaped by division where bodies speak beyond language, borders, and fear. More than a performance festival, Movement Art is a gathering of perspectives, questions, and shared humanity.

BOYS IN THE SAND – 60MIN
Czech Republic
Through Boys in the Sand, I explore softness, fragility, and femininity within the male body in today’s world, interweaving echoes of the past, realities of the present, and visions of the future. Boys in the Sand is a trio for men, inspired by the 1971 film of the same name by Wakefield Poole. This film is significant not only as a pioneering work of gay cinema, but also for its unapologetic portrayal of gay intimacy and its explicit content. In creating this piece, I am driven by a personal desire to challenge and perhaps normalize the taboos surrounding intimacy in society. As a queer artist, I find it crucial to engage with and question the narratives that have historically censored certain expressions of love and desire. It is important to clarify that the choreography itself does not reflect the sexual content of the film, but rather draws inspiration from the sensations it conveys.

VIBRATION – 39MIN
Hungary / Japan
Vibration is a collaboration between Rita Góbi and Ryuji Yamaguchi – is a physical poetry of the live body that explores attraction and repulsion, and irregular rhythm. Burning in the colours of red and orange, and trapped within a circular magnetic field, two figures vibrate in tension until the heart tears apart. “Life can be described as a circle. Beyond the language of the art of painting or mathematics, life can also be portrayed through the language of dance, as Vibrations by Rita Gobi and Ryuji Yamaguchi clearly proves.” / Péter Kovács.
