Artist biography
Born in Venezuela, Yliana Paolini is an interdisciplinary artist whose work blends the visual, sonic, and spatial arts. With a deep-rooted passion for both fine arts and music, she pursued an academic journey that mirrored her diverse interests. She earned a Master’s in Architecture, a discipline that gave her an understanding of space and structure, and later expanded her creative toolkit by studying music production. This fusion of artistic mediums provides a multi-dimensional lens through which she creates her immersive works, resulting in a distinct, avant-garde style reflective of her hybrid cultural background.
Her oil paintings depict androgynous beings from distant worlds, blending a minimalistic futurism, yet grounded in the emotional depth of human experience. These unnamed beings, with their ambiguous forms and serene expressions, evoke a sense of alienation and introspection, exploring the themes of identity and the emotional scars of life’s trials.
The touch of darkness in her work is counterbalanced by an underlying peace, making her art a commentary on resilience, transformation, and the profound impact that emotions have on shaping our inner worlds. Each piece is infused with an otherworldly minimalism, both visually and emotionally, inviting viewers to reflect on their own vulnerabilities.
Expanding her creative expression beyond the canvas, Yliana Paolini creates electronic music that mirrors the mood of her visual work minimalistic, dark, and atmospheric. She combines these sonic compositions with video art installations, seamlessly blending her music, architecture, and painting into immersive audiovisual experiences.
Her installations are meditative spaces inviting viewers to lose themselves in the interplay between sound and imagery, transporting them to the emotionally charged world she has experienced and envisions. Through this multi-sensory approach, she continues to push the boundaries of her art, fusing the futuristic with the emotional, and minimalism with the avant-garde.
